1. Who is responsible
The Artisan's Nook ([full legal name]) is the "responsible party" under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer is [name of the person responsible, usually the owner], reachable at [email protected].
2. What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and what you ordered.
- When you contact us: your email address and whatever you tell us in your message.
- Payment: your payment is handled by our payment provider. We receive confirmation that you paid, but we never see or store your full card details.
- Order records: the details of your order are also kept for up to 90 days on our hosting provider (Cloudflare), so we can process the order and sort out any problems.
- On this website: your wishlist is stored only in your own browser (local storage). We do not receive it unless you choose to share the wishlist link.
3. Why we use it
- To process, deliver and support your order (this is needed to perform our contract with you).
- To keep the records the law requires, such as tax and accounting records.
- To reply to your questions and requests.
- To send you news about new pieces, only if you have agreed to it. You can opt out at any time. [Delete this line if there is no newsletter]
4. Who we share it with
Only the people who help us serve you: our payment provider (Yoco), our delivery partner PUDO (which needs your name, phone number and your delivery address or chosen locker), our website host, our email service provider and our accountant. They may only use your information for those purposes. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Keeping it safe and sending it abroad
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. Some of our service providers, including our website host, may process information outside South Africa. When that happens we make sure the recipient is bound by rules that protect your information to a similar standard, as POPIA requires.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order and accounting records for as long as the law requires (currently five years for tax records) and other information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it.
7. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. [Update this section if analytics, a payment widget or a shop platform that sets cookies is added]
8. Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we are no longer entitled to keep it. You may object to us using it, and withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. Email our Information Officer to do any of this.
If you believe we have handled your information unlawfully, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
9. Children
This shop is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian's consent.
